• Biography

    Rob Patterson is a partner in the London office and a member of the firm’s Energy Practice Group. He has close to 25 years of experience advising clients on the structuring and negotiation of a broad range of energy-related projects and transactions, including cross-border M&A and joint ventures, strategic alliances, project development, commercial and operational contracts, and on dispute management and resolution, across the oil and gas, power, petrochemicals and LNG sectors. His clients include national oil companies, petroleum sector regulators, project sponsors, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, independent E&P companies, and oil and gas trading companies.

    Rob has substantial experience internationally, having lived and worked for significant periods in the UK, Russia, Asia and the Middle East. During that time he has advised on energy projects and transactions in dozens of foreign jurisdictions, including across Europe, Russia and the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, Africa, South and East Asia, Latin America and Australia. Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, Rob spent almost 20 years with another US energy-focussed law firm, where he served as administrative or managing partner in that firm’s offices in Moscow, Beijing and Abu Dhabi.

    Rob has written or co-written several articles on the energy market.
