• Biography

    Valisa Berber-Thayer practices in the areas of corporate securities and mergers and acquisitions and is dedicated to providing timely, quality service to clients. Valisa brings an eye for detail and a tireless work ethic to each matter on which she works.

    Valisa has had the opportunity to assist clients in a variety of industries, including energy, manufacturing, entertainment and biotechnology. She has represented both public and private companies in mergers, stock sales and asset sales, on both the purchaser and seller side, and has advised clients in transactions ranging from debt offerings and other securities matters to corporate reorganizations, including the corporate aspects of bankruptcy reorganizations. Most recently, Valisa assisted with the representation of a private foreign manufacturing company in the restructuring of its United States operations; a regional sports television network in its successful Chapter 11 reorganization; a private oil and gas company in its purchase of oil and gas assets in Tyler County, Texas; and a public independent oil and gas company engaged primarily in the development, production, operation, exploration and acquisition of oil and natural gas properties, in the private placement of $850 million aggregate principal amount of 6.125 percent Senior Notes due 2024.

    Outside of the office, Valisa serves on the board of the Houston area chapter of the Rhodes College Alumni Association and as a Vanderbilt University Law School alumni interviewer. Valisa is also a member of the Alliance Française, the Latina Mentorship Network and United Way LINC.
